Glossary<\/h2>\n

Event type:<\/strong> The way in which a Failure Mode (part) ended its life cycle. The choices are<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. By Failure,<\/li>\n
  2. By Potential Failure, or<\/li>\n
  3. By Suspension<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Suspension:<\/strong> A renewal of a Failure Mode (part) when it has not failed.<\/p>\n

    Failure:<\/strong> The inability of a function to be performed to the satisfaction of the user. Each organizaton must develop its own standards of what degree of deterioration constitutes a failure with regard to each Failure Mode.<\/p>\n

    Potential Failure:<\/strong> A Failure which is imminent. Should nothing be done about it the direst consequences of the Failure will be incurred.<\/p>\n

    Feedback:<\/strong> Structured information provided by the technician to correct or add to the knowledge base.<\/p>\n

    Objectives<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. At work order completion transfer the Failure Mode(s) and their Event Type(s) to the work order historical database for purposes of Reliability Analysis<\/li>\n
    2. Whenever the current RCM knowledge deviates from reality as discovered by the technician during execution of the work order recommend a knowledge change (called a “Feedback”).<\/li>\n
    3. Display the reliability of an equipment, its components, and its Failure Modes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Actor(s):<\/strong> Technician, Supervisor, Reliability Analyst<\/p>\n

      Activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Access the LRCM Manager<\/li>\n
      2. Select a Failure Mode and Event Type<\/li>\n
      3. Verify and\/or deselect the Failure Mode Selection<\/li>\n
      4. Select Simple or Complex Numbering of Tree nodes<\/li>\n
      5. Recommend (Feedback) a knowledge update of a node (other than a Failure Mode)<\/li>\n
      6. Recommend (Feedback) a knowledge textual<\/em>\u00a0or image\u00a0<\/em>update of a Failure Mode node<\/li>\n
      7. To avoid duplication\u00a0check to see if someone else has already made the suggestion.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
        Activity 1.\u00a0Access the LRCM Manager<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        User Action:<\/strong>\u00a01. Hit the LRCM Manager icon\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a>System response:<\/strong>\u00a0System Displays the Downtime Manager<\/p>\n

        User Action:<\/strong>\u00a01. Select the Work order of interest.
        \nActivity succeeds:<\/strong> MESH displays the LRCM Manager for the required equipment type.\u00a0        \"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Activity 2.\u00a0Select a Failure Mode and Event Type<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        User action:<\/strong>\u00a0Use the Keyword Search or manually expand the tree to find the Failure Mode that provoked the current work order, in this case Fuel filter Blocked<\/em>.\u00a0 Right click the Failure Mode node, select Select, and select the Event Type (e.g. Functional Failure).\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        System response:<\/strong>\u00a0Selected Failure Mode node is highlighted in blue.\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        User action:<\/strong> Verify or alter selection by hitting the Failure Mode Selection tab.\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        Activity succeeds:<\/strong> System displays the list of Failure Modes, their Effects, and ending Event Types\u00a0selected \u00a0on\u00a0the current work order.\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Activity 3.\u00a0Verify and\/or deselect the Failure Mode Selection<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        User action:<\/strong> 1. The user may deselect (by hitting the red garbage can icon) the Failure Mode if required and return to the Hierarchy tab to select again.<\/p>\n

        Activity succeeds:<\/strong> The Failure Mode in the Failure Mode Selection tab disappears and Failure Mode node in the Hierarchy tab returns to normal appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Activity 4.\u00a0Select Simple or Complex Numbering of Tree nodes<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        User action:<\/strong> 1. Select the Simple or Complex radio button.\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        Activity Succeeds:<\/strong> Numbering is now complex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
        Activity 5.\u00a0Recommend (Feedback) a knowledge update of a node (other than a Failure Mode)<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        User action: 1. Right click a node (other than a Failure Mode leaf) and select Feedback, Modify from the context menus.\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        User action:<\/strong> 2. Select another descriptive item from the menu\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        Alternatively,\u00a0suggest a New description for this knowledge element:\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

         <\/p>\n

        User action:<\/strong> 3. Provide a justification for the change suggestion.\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        Activity succeeds\u00a0:<\/strong>\u00a0Verify the feedback by hitting Pending Feedbacks. The user may cancel the feedback\u00a0it if he requires to do so by hitting the garbage can icon.<\/p>\n

        Activity 6.\u00a0Recommend (Feedback) a knowledge textual update of a Failure Mode node<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        User action:<\/strong>\u00a01. Right click the Failure Mode node where a modification is required. Select Feedback, and Modify.\u00a0\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        System response:<\/strong> Feedback dialog appears.<\/p>\n

        User action:<\/strong> 2. Make any changes as required in the the Feedback dialog using actions similar to those in the previous activities.\"LrcmMgr<\/a><\/p>\n

        User action:<\/strong> 3. Hit the Images tab if an image Feedback is required.<\/p>\n
