More important\u00a0 are the application of\u00a0 creative techniques in motivation, leadership, and training directed toward the work order completion process.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>An LRCM project implementation succeeds based on a realization that personnel\u00a0respond\u00a0best to the intagibles of recognition, empowerment, and interest by management. These characteristics of leadership\u00a0are described in the following list:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Empowerment<\/strong>.\u00a0LRCM solicits and encourages\u00a0updating of the knowledge base by those who are directly\u00a0impacted by the maintenance plan &#8211; technicians, supervisors, planners, and engineers. It is\u00a0their knowledge that LRCM seeks, continuously, which will impact\u00a0the maintenance plan).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recognition<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0The LRCM process highlights those performance indicators over which personnel have direct control. It recognizes\u00a0 the knowledge\u00a0 contributed by the team and\/or individual employees).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Visible interest. <\/strong>In the LRCM methodology, the manager\u00a0 asks, at least weekly, about inicators that keep the team focused on those &#8220;low level KPIs that will ultimately drive bottom line maintenance performance. The low level indicators will include:\n<ol>\n<li>Number of references between work orders and RCM knowledge base records.<\/li>\n<li>Number of new knowledge base records proposed.<\/li>\n<li>Number of revisions to existing knowledge base records proposed.<\/li>\n<li>Number of reliability analyses performed.<\/li>\n<li>Number of recommendations issued.<\/li>\n<li>CBM performance metrics\n<ol>\n<li>the number of confirmed potential failures detected (i.e. hits)<\/li>\n<li>the number of false alarms<\/li>\n<li>the number of misses<\/li>\n<li>Confidence (standard deviation) in remaining useful life estimation (RULE)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Training. <\/strong>The LRCM process depends on\u00a0 a thorough undersanding of RCM concepts, such as\u00a0Function, Failure, Cause, Effects, Consequences, potential failure, suspension, and the amount of detail justified by the consequences of failure. LRCM recognizes that Training extends beyond the classroom to the shop and the field.
